"Do I Love You"

Perfect timing. I was not necessarily planning to do thus post today, but you know, nah, nah, you know what I'm about. *No Response* Really, you don't know what John Q is all about. I mean you been here all this time and you still don't know whats up with Q. Well then turn around and don't look at me no more.

Sorry about that, The mirror sometimes takes on a life of it's own and you know so things start to get out of control and then the control and the out (says all of this in John Madden Madtv voice (Trust me, It's better this way)).

Annie, fromtheplay, who, Today is the day that makes all of us fell good about ourselves or reminds us that special someone that is not in yous life. Of course, I am talking about Valentines Day. So speaking in the spirit of the day, this post will lead into the next musicians that will be the focus of a few future posts. What, or who, could hold my attention for such a long time that I would dedicate more thann one post to. Think about the title of the post (asks like Dora the Explorer). It is none other that the group that made everyone seek out so many paths in life.

I am talking about A TRIBE CALLED QUEST. *Crowd cheers and applauses* Thank you, Thank you, It took long enough but we finally got to a post on the Tribe. Now, in another post I will discuss their backstory with great detail, but for today, I will focus on their introduction to the world. No, I am not talking about their first album, but the first 12" single they released to the masses.

The First 12" single they released was Bonita Applebum. What an introduction they had to the world. The song itself is not only one of the best songs in their catalog, but one of the best in rap history. Anyone wan attest to that, *People sit down and zip up the coats in summertime heat*, exactly.

Now this song is most notable for it's instantly recognizable introduction. Q-Tip does a great job of provide playful conversation for the female he lust for. Then in comes the drums. The drum pattern is simple, but brilliant it's use in the song. And to top things off, the little guitar licks at the end of the beat is like icing on this cake. Tip does a great job of playing romeo with sly and smooth words to capture the mind and body of the one female who we know to be "Bonita Applebum." A little trivia for this song is that this song was based off a girl who used to go the same high school with the Tribe.

So here is the:

Bonita Applebum 12"

and, of couuurrrseee, a little sum-something extra:
